Here's explanations to a few terms that may be confusing.
Maiden Race: a race that is designated for horses who have yet to win.
Claiming Race: a race that puts a horse in jeopardy of being sold if someone meets the claiming price. The lowest class in racing.
Allowance: like an ungraded stakes race, this race level is for horses that can't perform well in the graded races, or for horses that may need a prep race for their next big GI.
GI/GII/GIII the higher classes in racing, GI being the highest, the best horses compete in this level.
F/M a race with this is only for Fillies and Mares.
NW1: for horses that haven't won any more than one race during the current racing year.
NW2: for horses that haven't won any more than two races during the current racing year.
NW3: for horses that haven't won any more than three races during the current racing year.
